The Andalucia region
Costa del Sol is in the South of Spain formed by the provinces Malaga and Granada. Its climate, the beautiful and wide stretched beaches, the flamengo, sangria and its Mediterranean climate are the reasons for many people to visit the Costa del Sol. Besides this the Costa has more to offer like fantastic golfcourses, beautiful marinas and of course the wonderful inland of Andalucia with the well-known villages Mijas and Ronda. This part of Spain is famous for their sardines which you can enjoy in the many typical Spanish 'chiringuitos' together with a 'tinto de verano' a real feast. Marbella has the best climate of Europe, enjoying a temperature betweeen 16 and 30 degrees.
Marbella, Malaga
Marbella is the perfect place to stay, either for a couple of days or for a couple of weeks. It is a real paradise for golfplayers. If you are a runner you can use the boulevard or the beach which is perfect for running or for a walk. Marbella has many tenniscourts. At a short distance from Marbella you will find the famous "Sierra Nevada" where you can practice your favourite wintersports. Tarifa - at one hour drive - is a paradise for surf lovers.
In Marbella you have a great variety of restaurants (Italian, Thai, Japanese, Argentinian, Swedish, Indian, Greek). There are many traditional tapasbars and chiringuitos, but also 'Michelin Star' awarded restaurants like Calimo, El Lago, Skina.
La Canada is the well known shopping center in Marbella. You can go to the famous Puerto Banus where the luxury shops like Gucci, Prada and Louis Vuitton are to be found as well as El Cortes Ingles, a luxury warehouse.
For children there is Funny Beach, just outside Marbella, which offers kartings, super jump, jet skis, mini quads, trampolines and much more. Marbella has a sparkling nightlife with many bars and discos and ofcourse the famous Nikki Beach Club. Bicycles and motors can be rented on several locations. Marbella has some small musea and galleries, Malaga has the famous Museo Carmen Thyssen and the Museo Picasso.
